Software Tester (first in the company!) required for a leading technology company in Lancaster.
You''ll get the opportunity to be the first Software Tester within the company, and have influence and control over how the software testing function is developed focusing on an end-to-end testing solution.
The company have a few ideas in mind - they would like to use Cypress for the automation testing, and with the impressive growth plans they have in mind, they want to focus on an automation-first strategy.
There are plans to grow the team substantially, and so there is the career progression both technical and senior wise. In the medium term, the plan would be for you to move into a Lead Tester position. If you don''t want to, that''s fine too - but you would need to be aware that the organisation will need to hire a Lead at some point!
You''ll be owning the testing, working closely with the UX, UI and the development team to understand the user journey and the requirements from there. You''ll get to decide upon the testing strategy and best practices with a mindset of continually improving things. Day to day you''ll be hands-on, carrying out both manual and automated testing.
In terms of automation testing - you should have some experience creating automation test scripts from scratch, and it would be preferable if you can develop the framework from scratch, but if not, the Developers are there to give you a hand.
You''ll have most of the following skills/experience:
**Manual and automation testing experience - ideally with Cypress, or an interest in Cypress
**Experience developing a testing strategy, ideally focusing on automation
**Gathering requirements
**API testing - Postman etc.
**Agile experience
**Reviewing results from pass rates through to coverage and adjusting based on reporting
**An interest in being a Lead/mentoring and coaching more junior team members
The company are a really interesting blend of creativity and software - and the tech that they use is cutting-edge in terms of the product created (data and AI but with a qualitative approach rather than quantitative) as well as the tech used to create it (microservices based, AWS).
As a company they have a genuinely enjoyable environment - they have a nice blend of people who are smart but who also want to have fun at their job. Their offices are also pretty nice (with a very fancy coffee machines), so when you are in the office, it''s not a blank, bland environment.
Ideally you will need to be able to travel to Lancaster, particularly as the testing team grows and needs your support and guidance, but the company are fairly flexible in terms of the amount of home working on offer.
