SUMMARY:
Software Tester required for a rapidly growing company in Edinburgh - it's the first dedicated test role for the company.
POSITION INFO:
A tech company in Edinburgh is looking to add to their rapidly growing team with a Tester for the first time.
The company act both as a consultancy to a variety of industries as well as building a range of product offerings inhouse, so work is very varied! They''ve had quite a bit of investment recently, winning several contracts for new projects.
Most of the company is made up of the technical team so testing has been handled this far, but the team need someone who can set up good practices, strategies and processes to develop the testing function further.
You will be a Tester with a few years of commercial testing experience behind you. You''ll be able to draw upon your experience, looking at what has worked best in the past for you and the wider team. Most of the work is across mobile and web-based applications, and the core of the testing will be UAT, functional, system, and API testing and developing automated testing.
What is also crucial is your ability to communicate. The team is fairly small which means you will be working directly with clients. This means explaining testing and technical terms to people who may not be technical, so being able to bridge that gap is really important!
You will have most of the following skills/experience:
* UAT, functional, system and API testing
* Automated testing
* Agile Scrum
* Experience as a solo Tester
* Testing mobile and web applications
* Understanding technical specifications and develop test requirements
* Developing a testing strategy, test estimation, acceptance criteria
* Mentoring Junior Testers (in the future)
* Experience in a digital agency is a bonus
In return the company are dedicated to developing your potential. They set aside 10% of the week to work on your own passion project, funded various certifications that has allowed the technical team to develop their skills and are able to offer a lot of responsibility and autonomy to allow you to develop careerwise.
Right now they are working remotely, and plan to for the foreseeable. Ideally you would be local enough to commute in when needed, but are flexible with remote working. The salary on offer is between £33,000 - £38,000 and the company offers a benefits package including a discretionary 10% bonus.
