Software Engineer ( Java / Scala )

POSITION INFO:

A skilled Java Developer (or ideally someone with knowledge or an interest in Scala) is required for a well-established Software House in Glasgow City Centre. Work with a modern tech stack on a feel-good product for a company that offer a great work-life balance (4-day working week).

They''re well-established (they''ve been going for almost two decades now) and are considered market leaders in their field. They are financially very stable, in fact they quite recently added some new roles to the business over the past few months and are looking to build on that again with the addition of an extra Developer. The company have really started to scale up their Dev team the past year on the back of some very strong financial months.

You''ll join a team of strong technologists (circa 15+) and will be responsible for maintaining and extending the company''s core flagship cloud-based product. Your role would be working within the backend team and therefore you''ll be involved in all aspects of design and development in this area.

The ideal fit for the company is a personable Developer with at least a year or so commercial experience (obviously Scala experience would be best, but merely an interest to pick this up is needed). The team work with modern tech and promote software development best practices so they are keen for Developers that can produce clean quality code.

You''ll ideally have:
** Commercial experience in Java (Scala would be amazing though!).
** Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD).
** Experience or an interest in Functional programming
** Code optimisation and performance tuning.

The following is highly beneficial;
** Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
** GraphQL
** Linux/UNIX experience.

Their offices are based in Glasgow City Centre, although they are obviously working remotely just now. They do expect some remote working to carry on after lockdown but are keen for some office interaction. They offer very flexible working hours and a 4-day working week (so a Monday or Friday off each week).
