Snr Control & Instrumentation Engineer

POSITION INFO:

Ensures that the design, engineering, development and modification of complex and / or specialised control and instrumentation systems are managed and executed in accordance with sound established engineering principles and standards to satisfy business requirement.

Responsible for project engineering deliverables as per the company''s lBD&I project model from pre-feasibility through feasibility, basic development, execution and start-up to close-out and evaluation.

Demonstrate good knowledge and experience of hazardous area equipment selection and intrinsic safe loop calculations as used within the oil and gas industry.

Provide inputs during project safety reviews (PFD’s, MFD’s and Hazop).

Demonstrate good knowledge and experience of Yokogawa Centum.

Manage the relationship with internal and external service providers applicable to function/discipline.

Develop and maintain work standards and ensure it is met according to quality, quantity and due dates.

Develop, maintain and manage the discipline specific systems, tools, policies and procedures for the execution of projects.

Ensure adherence and compliance to safety system and culture.

Manage interfaces between other engineering disciplines, engineering contactors, suppliers and vendors, maintenance, projects and external technical community.

Ensure good working relationship with all stake holders especially with instrumentation and control fraternity as well as plant production and maintenance personnel.

Liaise with external engineering companies to share in knowledge and benchmark.

Interpret and translate business requirements into workable and fit for purpose control & instrumentation design.

Review deviations from C&I standards for approval when necessary.

Ensure new plant construction design quality within budget, schedule and risk profile.

Ensure compliance with legal requirements, policies and standards.

Manage of discipline specific project risks.

Ensure quality control of delivered services.

Adhere to safety system and culture.

Adhere and provide input to specifications and Engineering standards.

Review policies for applicability and implementation.

Develop deviation concessions and concession registers to specifications for small project execution.

Ensure governance regarding proposed modifications.

Drive initiatives which improves delivery and competitiveness.

Assist in selection of external service providers by measuring technical competence.

Provide support with exercising a deciding vote on all significant development decisions, including project gate readiness.

Facilitate knowledge sharing and innovation.

Ensure personal development plans are completed, implemented and tracked within applicable career path.

Notify/inform of changes in resourcing needs.

Be responsible for own performance management.

Support with defining and implementing C&I Engineering quality assurance standards to uphold the highest local and international standards.

Provide efficient and high quality services to stakeholders.

Oversee the management of external service providers.

Maintain healthy and stable relationships with contractors and consultants.

Oversee the safety of external service providers.

Active practicing of interpersonal skills to ensure productive working relationships and to work with, or through, others internal and/or external the organisation to get work accomplished.
