SUMMARY:
Job Purpose
The Site Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations on mining or construction sites, ensuring that projects are executed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications, timelines, and regulatory standards. The role involves supervising teams, coordinating resources, and ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and Mine Health and Safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Supervision
Supervise daily on-site activities and ensure work is completed according to project plans and specifications.
Coordinate work teams, subcontractors, and equipment on site.
Monitor productivity and ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.
Ensure proper allocation of labour, tools, equipment, and materials.
- Health, Safety and Compliance
Enforce compliance with
Mine Health and Safety Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS).
Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site inspections.
Identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
Ensure workers follow safe work procedures and use PPE.
- Team Leadership
Lead and supervise site personnel, operators, and contractors.
Allocate daily tasks and monitor performance.
Provide guidance, mentoring, and training to workers.
Maintain discipline and ensure adherence to company policies.
- Project Coordination
Liaise with engineers, project managers, and clients.
Interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
Coordinate logistics, plant equipment, and site operations.
Monitor project progress and resolve operational issues.
- Quality Control
Ensure all work meets required quality standards and specifications.
Conduct inspections to verify compliance with project requirements.
Identify defects or non-compliance and implement corrective measures.
- Reporting and Administration
Maintain daily site reports, progress reports, and safety records.
Record worker attendance and equipment usage.
Report incidents, delays, and operational challenges to management.
Participate in site meetings and progress reviews.
Minimum RequirementsEducationGrade 12 (Matric).
Trade Certificate / National Diploma in Construction, Engineering, or Mining (advantageous).
ExperienceMinimum
3–5 years’ experience in a supervisory role in mining, construction, or heavy industry.
Experience managing teams and site operations.
Certifications (Advantageous)Mine Health and Safety certification.
First Aid training.
Blasting / Mining supervisory certificates (if mining related).
Valid Driver’s License.
