SUMMARY:
Our client based in Randburg is looking for a Shipping Import/Export Co-ordinator.
Role overview:
To facilitate imports and exports for the company by liaising between customers, suppliers and transport companies to ensure an efficient operational service is provided.
POSITION INFO:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To support the company with regards to importation and exportation of equipment from various suppliers and to customers.
- Keeping good record of all imports and export orders and the cost thereof, maintaining the digital filing system to ensure business continuity.
- Liaise with Customers, Freight Forwarders and Operations departments ensuring all documents are received within the designated time frame and distributed and recorded accordingly.
- To communicate with customers, suppliers, forwarders and agents to obtain up to date shipment information and a smooth flow of documentation.
- Work with the supplier and procurement department so that the imported goods are suitably packed and shipped via the correct mode of transport in terms of the current incoterms. In some cases the destination can be another country dependent on our current clients needs.
- To co-ordinate all exports from SA or other countries, this would involve a good understanding of destination requirements e.g. pre-shipment inspections, certificates of origin, special packaging requirements, dangerous goods etc.
- Preparation of documents - Packing lists, Commercial Invoices according to Project BOQ documents according to country requirements.
- Consolidation of reports to ensure customers are fully informed of the progress of their shipments.
- To provide transport companies with the relevant information to ensure customer delivery requirements are met.
- To ensure quotations for the relevant shipments have been obtained e.g. Sea, Air etc. and that costs are cleared via the project manager.
- The ability to adapt with the countries changing environment in terms of permit applications when and as needed, to be able to navigate through import requirements.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Matric is essential.
- Related tertiary qualification would be advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a logistics environment.
- Experience with freight forwarders is necessary.
- Have a strong customer-service background.
- Computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel.
