SUMMARY:
A leading Clothing Supplier based in Sandton (JHB) is seeking a Shipping Clerk / Fabric and Trims Buyer to join their team.

POSITION INFO:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • SHIPPING
  • Responsible for facilitating the shipping (Imports) of product (fashion merchandise/garments, fabric, trims).
  • Liaising with Service Providers (Freight Forwarder) on all matters relating to shipments, including transport and booking of product required direct to customer.
  • Effective management of consignments with service providers to reduce cost.
  • Ensuring adherence to all standard shipping processes and regulations.
  • Management and Coordination of Bill of Lading and PPO accuracy for all shipments.
  • FEC’s, Clearing Instructions, BOE, etc.
  • Estimated Landed Dates and Associated costs for all product shipments.
  • All regulatory administrative detail to be accurate, and ready for audit.
  • File Maintenance, as it relates to Import Compliance and Governance.
  • Internal communication with Management and Sales teams with regard to all shipping related issues, assisting with work/load management and container consolidation etc.
  • Communication with customer DC Operations for shipment updates and deliveries etc.
  • FABRIC AND TRIMS
  • Placing orders for fabric and trims (Imports) according to instruction/specifications from Sales team.
  • Working with Sales team to negotiate and confirm prices and shipment dates.
  • Following up and chasing orders to ensure on time shipment.
  • Facilitating all shipments of fabric and trims orders.

 Requirements

  • Matric certificate and relevant experience in Shipping (Imports) within a Clearing and Freight-Forwarding environment.
  • Qualification in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management or a Qualification in Finance would be advantageous.
  • Experience in a fashion/clothing environment would be advantageous.
  • Strong Planning and Organising Skills.
  • Strong administrative skills, and attention to detail.
  • High levels of Accuracy, Compliance, and Processing capability.
  • Good communication skills and ability to send clear and concise emails.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast–paced environment.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Excellent computer skills, especially on Excel.
