SUMMARY:
Distribution Client in Northern suburbs looking for a Shift Supervisor. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising all functions of the warehouse workload and team member’s activities. This person is always on ground to monitor and evaluate the performance of workers to ensure operations run seamlessly.

POSITION INFO:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Warehouse Strategy

  • Assist in the implementation of the Warehouse strategy.
  • Report on performance of KPA’s set for the Warehouse.

Legal Compliance

  • Ensure Company policies are always followed.
  • Provide required information for reporting by the due date.

Finance

  • Ensure stock inventories are accurate and reconcile against sock inventories.
  • Identify areas where high risk of theft may take place and implement adequate controls.

Stakeholder Relations

  • Build and maintain trust relationships with the Management Team, Colleagues and Customers to ensure specific targets are met.
  • Work as part of the Warehouse Management Team to share ideas and improve operations.
  • Work collaboratively and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery of specific targets.

People Management

  • Supervise the Warehouse Team by promoting teamwork, providing guidance and support and driving performance.
  • Proactively contribute to creating a good team atmosphere, takes ownership for team cohesion and team development.
  • Strive to maintain an ethical and engaged workforce.
  • Monitor and measure teams’ performance against set KPA’s, provide feedback to address poor performance 
  • Ensure training and developmental needs of the Warehouse Team are identified and the required training is provided.
  • Have daily team meetings with the Warehouse team to make them aware of priorities and targets
  • Make sure that all staff are punctual for work
  • Manage leave requirements and make sure that the required cover is in place.

Shift SupervisorTasks

  • Supervise goods-in, picking, dispatch, customer collections and stock count functions
  • Supervision of Warehouse Operatives
  • Ensure procedures are being adhered to
  • Distribute workload amongst team members to ensure maximum productivity
  • Resource planning to maximise efficiency and ensure operational success
  • Supervise the daily work plan including organisation of daily picking requirements
  • Inform Warehouse Manager of packaging requirements for the Warehouse, boxes, tape, pallets etc.
  • Ensure the site is clean and tidy and health & safety is always adhered to
  • Ensure Warehouse equipment is maintained in-line with safety procedure and policy
  • Continuous quality improvement
  • Holiday and sickness cover for the Warehouse Manager 

Health and Safety

  • Accountable for the Health & Safety and wellbeing of Warehouse staff
  • Ensure a clean and tidy working environment to aid operational efficiency
  • Promote a culture that is highly aware and committed to Health & Safety practices within the Warehouse Department
  • Implement safety programmes and monitor their compliance
  • Conduct regular safety inspections of work area and identify risks and hazards are conducted and report them to the Warehouse Manager
  • Ensure that Warehouse equipment is maintained in line with the safety policy and procedure. Schedule maintenance checks for equipment
  • Investigate accidents and incidents and report accordingly

Qualifications & EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience as a Team Leader
  • Grade 12 qualification
  • 5years+ proven Warehouse experience
  • Forklift license
  • Stock control experience Health & Safety
