About the Opportunity

Medical Resources Group is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and highly skilled Tax Consultant to join their dynamic team.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a qualified accounting professional with 3–5 years'' experience within an accounting firm or accounting environment, who has strong technical knowledge of accounting and taxation and is confident managing a full accounting and tax portfolio.

The successful candidate will provide tax planning, compliance, and advisory services while ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with applicable tax legislation.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Manage the full accounting and tax function for an allocated portfolio of clients.

• Perform the full accounting function through to trial balance.

• Prepare monthly management reports.

• Draft annual financial statements for:

  • Companies

  • Trusts

  • Sole proprietors

• Prepare annual financial statements using CaseWare.

• Provide professional advice on accounting and tax-related matters.

Tax & SARS Compliance

• Prepare and submit income tax returns for individuals and companies.

• Prepare and submit VAT returns for sole proprietors, companies, and trusts.

• Manage and respond to SARS correspondence.

• Submit notices of objection through eFiling where required.

• Attend to suspension of debt applications on eFiling.

• Ensure clients remain compliant with applicable tax laws and regulations.

• Provide tax planning and advisory support to optimise tax strategies and minimise tax liabilities.

Client & Stakeholder Management

• Communicate professionally with clients and external stakeholders.

• Provide accurate and timely advice on accounting and tax matters.

• Build and maintain strong professional client relationships.

• Travel to clients when required.

• Conduct all client interactions in a professional and service-focused manner.

Administration & Compliance

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records.

• Ensure all work is completed accurately and within required deadlines.

• Manage multiple client portfolios and priorities effectively.

• Work under pressure while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.

Minimum Requirements

Essential

• Accounting Degree or Higher Diploma – Non-negotiable.

• Completed Articles.

• Minimum 3–5 years'' experience in an accounting firm or accounting environment.

• Strong working knowledge and experience with CaseWare and Pastel – imperative.

• Practical experience with eFiling – essential.

• Working knowledge of accounting and tax legislation.

• Experience with SARS correspondence and submissions.

• Own reliable vehicle.

• Valid driver''s licence – non-negotiable.

Preferred

Affiliation or membership with one or more of the following will be advantageous:

• SAICA

• SAIPA

• ACC

• CIMA

• SAIBA
