Senior Software Engineer

Developer of high-tech instrumentation, electronics and mechanical systems seeks to employ a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Software Engineer at their premises in Cape Town.

For the position you would be required to have:

• B. Eng/ B.Sc in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Science ESSENTIAL
• Around 7 years' experience in the full software development cycle in a scientific, engineering, industrial or instrumentation environment
• Around 3 years' experience leading software projects
• Software development technologies and Acceptance Test Procedures

A plus if you also bring:

• Linux, NI Labview, Real-time OS, Python, Flask, JavaScript, MySQL
• Software and control system design for robotic, mechatronic or imaging devices

Responsibilities would include you to:

• Plan and manage software projects
• Derive software requirements based on stakeholder inputs
• Strategic planning and obsolescence management of software systems
• Develop software quality control processes
• Act as lead developer, software architect
• Perform software design, development and support through all stages of the development life cycle
• Perform software maintenance and upgrades on equipment
• Provide software support to electrical and mechanical teams
• Design and test software via Acceptance Test Procedures as part of subsystem commissioning
• Perform fault finding and bug fixes
• Software configuration control
