Established company seeks the assistance of a Senior Mechanical Engineer.

POSITION INFO:

Qualification

B Eng Mechanical Degree

Requirements

Min. of 5 years plus of mechanical engineering experience in a steel product, design and fabrication environment.
Experience in using advanced technology such as finite element analysis and multi body dynamics software. The applicant must also have the ability to conduct test and measure exercises
African language will be an advantage
Minimum travelling required

Duties

Responsible for completing engineering tasks on time and accurate
Represent the engineering department in essential company meetings such as job handover – customer complaints, work in progress meetings and other when required
Initiate meetings within and across departments when needed to communicate and transfer essential knowledge, focussing on continuous improvements and risk aversion
Develop, maintain with the help of the quality department and follow company standards, procedure an processes that promote the company’s workflow quality safety technical ability and reduce risk.
Develop and maintain engineering calculations to assist in product design where needed
Assist in preforming engineering first principle calculations when needed
Manage and assist in preforming engineering structural integrity and dynamics calculations and conduct test and measurements exercises by means of using advanced technology when needed
Check the designers design intent at the initial phase of projects to identify potential weaknesses in the designs
Sign for the approval of general arrangements drawings or escalate to Coo when a second opinion is required
Manage the engineering requests and distributes the work to the relevant person to complete
Manage assist personnel whether junior engineers interns or students when allocated
