SUMMARY:
To manage the VAT function of the University by providing information to consultants and auditors to

POSITION INFO:

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

• To manage the VAT function of the University
• Liaise with VAT consultant and auditors to provide appropriate information for statutory returns
• Provide leadership to accounts payable colleagues

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• To manage the VAT function of the University by providing information to consultants and auditors to maintain compliance with legislation
• Checking and assessing contracts and source documents with external parties for VAT coding purposes in the ERP system.
• Provide training to colleagues relating to VAT matters
• Validating of accounts payable source documents
• Provide leadership to Accounts Payable colleagues

CORE COMPETENCIES

• Extensive knowledge of VAT legislation and its application particularly in a Higher Education Environment

• Understanding the chart of accounts setup and configuration of financial information systems

• Ability to adhere to deadlines

• Numerical accuracy

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work without supervision in a decentralised work environment

REQUIREMENTS

• B Com degree with Accounting 3rd year and Income Tax 3rd year
• 3 years’ experience in a large corporate ERP, VAT, Accounts Payable and Finance System Administration environment
• 2 years supervisory experience
