Job Description

Reporting to: Information Specialist - Information Provision

Purpose:

The development, management (Content) and facilitation of access to information centre portal, library management system and online information products. Ensure that the specifications for the technological tools required to provide library and information services in the GPL are articulated and designed to meet the obligation of the Information Centre.

To provide library and information services to designated stakeholders, which entails Information provision to a portfolio competency sector as defined in the Legislature. Also provide information consultancy in the selection and building of appropriate materials for the identified sector, helping clientele to retrieve and search for relevant information.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

KPA 1:  Information Consultancy / provision

  • Alerts and summary of alerts disseminated to all stakeholders
  • Updated portal on a daily basis with relevant information/content for library stakeholders
  • Maintained URL links on Amlib system
  • Information sourced for stakeholders using subscribed online databases, registered internet sites and networking partners
  • Troubleshoot of online library information products
  • Compiled bibliographies on specific topics relating to information needs of stakeholders on requests and emerging needs
  • Stakeholder information needs profiles created and maintained
  • Information requests handled/resolved
  • Index terms provided and abstract for new information materials created
  • Constituency related information provided to stakeholders                     
  • Relevant content of online Journal articles disseminated to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with enterprise IT to support authentication on all library/enterprise websites/electronic interfaces
  • Coordination, testing and implementation of new release software
  • Customisation and facilitation of access to the Library''s electronic resources

KPA 2:  Risk Management

  • Information materials acquired in line with the IC policy and Institutional Mandate
  • Searched the library catalogue to identify and mitigate the risk of duplicate copies when recommending materials for procurement 
  • Library materials weeded of in line with IC policy and guidelines
  • Facilitated the integration of online information resources to avoid duplication and ensure seamless access
  • Coordinated the integration of various modules of the library management system to ensure data quality of the entire system

KPA 3:  Collection Development

  • Identified and recommended information materials for purchasing for the library collection 
  • Relevant new publ
