Senior Enterprise Risk Manager

The role is expected to perform at a senior level and will have two subordinate roles reporting to it (Enterprise Risk Manager and Junior Risk Officer).

The incumbent will need to be an effective leader, have the ability to influence processes and policies, be passionate in supporting the entire team and have a strong sense of purpose in terms of owning and executing the role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Foster awareness, assist in creation and promotion of a risk culture within the entire business, based on risk versus reward principles whilst ensuring a balance between the cost of risk and cost of control
• Provide a central point of reference and expertise in risk management related matters and in particular, advise on policies and strategic decisions, which have potential risk exposure implications
• Assist Head of Group Risk & Compliance with coordination of an effective and efficient end-to-end risk management framework implementation.
• Assist Head of Group Risk & Compliance with the development, implementation and maintenance of a Group Risk Appetite framework and Scenario Analysis
• Assist business unit management develop their risk response strategies in accordance with Risk and Compliance Committee approved risk appetite requirements.
• Draft formal quarterly reports to the Risk Committee and also compile regular informal reports to the business unit heads on any risk related issues e.g. Risk appetite, scenario analysis, threat assessments etc.
• Create and maintain an effective risk presence in the business and to ensure that any incidents of a risk management nature, can be identified in a timely manner
• Development and maintenance of the overall Business Risk Profiles
• Liaise with Group Internal Audit, External Audit and other assurance providers to ensure that coverage is relevant and provides the necessary assurance regarding the effective operation of the control environment and combined assurance.
• Assist in the development and integration of a set of Key Risk Indicators that informs on the state of health in key risk areas
• Drive the implementation of project risk management principles
• Drive risk management training and awareness across the organisation
• Facilitate GRC tool implementation and management
• Research risk methodologies and industry and external events that may impact the business to refine the risk management practices or highlight concerns

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• 10 to 12 years’ experience in Risk/auditing
• Retail business knowledge may be an advantage
• A demonstrated knowledge of ERM Best practices (King, ISO, COSO and BCI)
• Relevant Finance/Risk degree and post graduate qualification
• Experience in leading a team
