SUMMARY:
Senior Data Engineer (Johannesburg)

POSITION INFO:

Responsibilities:

vWrites technical designs.

vInstalls integration runtime on servers to Integrate with Azure.

vDevelops / configures data ingestion / transformation pipelines.

vDevelops / configures data ingestion / transformation maintenance routines (e.g. concatenation of files, pipeline monitoring, reconciliation).

vDeploys data ingestion / transformation pipelines.

vDevelops & deploys Microsoft Power BI dashboards.

vEstablishes and monitors data quality initiatives.

vWorks with the Business data owners to document data definitions and business rules.

vIdentifies areas for data quality improvements and helps resolve data quality problems.

vDevelops data visualisations using Microsoft Power BI.

Skills & Experience:

vB.Sc. or Business degree or equivalent.

v5+ years of experience in elements of data governance: quality, analysis, administration, architecture.

vExperience working as a Data Engineer on data warehousing solutions and cloud technology implementations.

vExperience working with data visualisation tools, e.g. Power BI, Tableau, etc.

v

Detailed knowledge and experience working with the following:

vMicrosoft Azure Data Factory V2 – including connectors to SQL Server, SAP and custom connectors.

vOther connectors may also be used depending on final source systems selected

vMicrosoft Azure Data Lake Store Gen2

vMicrosoft Azure ARM Templates / Azure Blueprints

vData bricks (PySpark) – including integration of Azure Data Factory with Data bricks

vT-SQL

vPowerShell or equivalent

vData formats (AVRO and Parquet)

vStrong knowledge of BI concepts, e.g. enterprise data models, ER mapping, data warehouse design (dimensions & facts)

vAzure DevOps

vIntegration Runtime

vSuperior attention to detail

vStrong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

vAbility to compare technologies and make recommendations to senior members of the team.
