SUMMARY:
Our client, a leader in imports and exports, currently seeks an accurate and meticulous individual to join their growing division in Durban.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum Job Requirements:

Matric.
Certification in Customs Clearing and Forwarding.
Diploma in Logistics - an advantage.
Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar role within a large company.
Intermediate excel level.
Knowledge of Compuclear and Epicor.
Knowledge of Break Bulk & Bulk Shipments.
Knowledge of Import / Export Control Act - Prohibited & Restricted goods.
Solid clearing and forwarding exports experience.
Sound knowledge of Shipping documents and procedure.
Fluent in Tariff Heading Determination.

Overall Role Objectives:

1. Administration:

Receive and monitor documents, shipping instructions and requests from clients & head office.
Prepare and complete files for invoicing, ensuring customer documents are delivered on time.
Raise Purchase Orders to suppliers.
Assist with any Logistics calculations on Imports and Export Shipments.

2. Client Service/Reporting:

Follow up on all client queries.
Communicate status reports to all clients.
Build and maintain relationships with all clients.
Conduct monthly client forecasts.

3. Import/Export Management:

Request for shipping details.
Ensure accurate details of Shipping Line Charges.
Liaise with third party service providers.
Capture and frame advanced billings and submit to SARS.
Submit Cargo Dues via system.
Process VOC's, Customs Refunds and Acquittals.
Check the accuracy of source documents.
Process Certificate Of Origins, EUR1, SADC and GSP Certificates.
Process landing delivery and forwarding orders.
Arrange Port Health, Plant Inspector, State Vet and NRCS releases.
Handle all Customs, SAPS and Borders Police stops until released.
Submit relevant documents to the Shipping Lines for final release.
Apply Import & Export Permits to the relevant departments.
Bond Store control.
Stay abreast of industry changes.

4. Costing and Estimates:

Prepare estimates for logistics quotes.
Negotiate best possible rates for ocean/air/road/rail to secure the business.
Control and manage companies export freight rates, note validities and update when necessary.
Assist with tender rate preparations.
Complete estimates and proposals as per company quote templates.
Update client rate schedules as and when required.
