SUMMARY:
One of our clients in Logistics and Distribution industry is looking to hire an experienced Senior Customs Clerk. The successful candidate must have all-round knowledge of customs and exercise requirements for movement of goods outside South Africa. Experience on tariffs is a must have! POSITION INFO:
The Ideal Candidate
- Must have a minimum of +- 5 years in Operations through export activities in a medium or larger organisation.
- Must have tariff experience – non-negotiable!
- Must have solid clearing and forwarding exports experience.
- Must have sound knowledge of shipping documents & procedures.
Duties include:
Administration
Receipt of Documents / Shipping Instructions / Booking requests.
Monitoring documents and requests from Clients & Head Office and acting accordingly.
Requesting original documents timeously.
Prepare and complete every file for invoicing, ensure customer documents are delivered on time.
Ensuring that files are invoiced out according to rate profiles.
Raising of Purchase Orders to Suppliers.
Experience in Logistics calculations on Imports and Export Shipments.
Customer Service / Reporting (Internal & External)
Follow up on all customer collections / deliveries to a warehouse to pack / port if packed by the client and always meet and exceed customer expectations with constant communication - Telephonic & Electronic.
Daily Status Reports to be sent to all Customers.
Import/Export Management
Registration of shipments on Shipshape
Requesting for SOB Details.
Requesting for Shipping Line Charges.
Ensuring that all Shipping Line Charges are correct and signed off for payment.
Costing & Estimates
Prepare estimates for logistics quotes.
Negotiating best possible rates for ocean/ air/ road/rail to secure the business.
Control and manage companies export freight rates noting validities and updating when necessary.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualification – Diploma in Logistics or any related qualification.
