Senior Buyer - Direct Materials

RESPONSIBILITY

AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL

 We seek a suitably qualified individual to ensure that production is adequately supplied with appropriate quality material at optimal cost.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
 Ordering raw material via MRP system weekly.
 Expediting and following up on orders to arrive on time.
 Evaluate appropriate use of alternative suppliers.
 Measuring of supplier performance.
 Ensure information on the system regarding delivery performance and master data is accurate.
 Ensure the appropriate quality product is procured at the lowest cost
 Develop existing and new suppliers.
 Driving cost saving initiatives.
 Communicating daily with Plants on their requirements.

Overseeing the outbound and inbound functions

 Ordering raw materials ( Liasing with Suppliers, forecast and demand to suppliers)

 Outbound logistics ( Ensuring customers e.g Nissan and Ford and BMW are supported and receiving goods timeously)

 Inventory controlling ( stock takings, cycle counts)

 Management of staff inbound and outbound

 Daily reporting (Backflushing)

 Attending plant meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

Be in possession of NDip. Logistics or Purchasing or equivalent.
 At least 3 years working experience within a purchasing and functional logistics in an Automotive Industry Tier 1.
 Good understanding of MRP and experience in ordering off MRP.

KNOWLEDGE /SKILLS

Sound knowledge of ERP Purchasing and Logistics Systems.
 SAP advantageous.
 Product knowledge and ability to identify, categories and understand technical information.
 Good negotiating skills.
