Senior Buyer (Automotive)

POSITION INFO:

Introduction
Automotive manufacturing company based in Pretoria is looking for Senior Commodity Buyer from the automotive manufacturing industries

Key Responsibilities:

1. Processing of purchase orders for goods and services
2. Sourcing suppliers to fulfill demand and align with company strategy
3. Maintain vendor information and item master records
4. Monthly reporting on savings and BBBEE spend
5. Expediting purchase orders to ensure that priority plan is current
6. Driving the B-BBEE company strategy
7. Negotiation with Suppliers for the OEM automotive industry
8. Supplier evaluation
9. Participate in initiatives to improve procurement system in order to optimize working capital.
10. Supplier interaction at leadership levels including tender analysis and supplier performance.

Minimum experience & qualifications required

• National Diploma or degree in Purchasing or equivalent relevant tertiary qualification
• Min of 5 years years in commodity purchasing or related experience in relevant disciplines and at least 2 years automotive industry purchasing experience would be a distinct advantage.

Behavioural skills required

• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills to discharge job duties
• Must be able to function without supervision
• Understanding of commodity fundamentals which influence product cost, piece price, quality, performance and capacity.
• Well-developed collaboration/ negotiation skills.
• Good presentation and computer skills
• Above basic excel skills
• Well-developed business acumen and finance knowledge to ensure that accurate sourcing decisions are made.
