SUMMARY:
Our Client in the Marketing and Communications industry is in the market for a Senior Bookkeeper to join their dynamic organization. The incumbent will be responsible for the full bookkeeping function of 4 companies: 1 small to medium size of books (4 banks) including payroll (20 employees); 2 small sets of accounts (2 banks, 1 salary) & 1 start-up small set (2 banks, 2 salaries).

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent MUST have Legislative knowledge of PAYE, VAT, Income Tax and Dividends Tax as well as Legislative knowledge of B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice. Please read the requirements and main performance areas before applying for this role.

Minimum Requirements:

National Diploma/Degree – Accounting/Bookkeeping (non-negotiable)
Pastel Partner experience
Sage VIP Payroll Classic experience
Chase Advertising Software experience - advantageous
Digital advertising or media production background advantageous

Main Performance Areas (Responsibilities) - (not limited to):

DAILY/WEEKLY: Attend to queries; Capture books on Pastel, reconcile to bank accounts; Invoice reconciliation – live document; Prepare payment requisitions as well as cashflow and load payments weekly; File invoices, payment requisitions and proofs of payments; and Debtors and creditors function.

MONTHLY: Bi-monthly VAT submission; Monthly payroll and PAYE, UIF, Skills submission; Customer invoicing; Month end close off procedures including reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, income statement items validated against budget and reconciling with operational support system reports (Chase Advertising Software); Continuous review of internal control processes; and Supply a full set of management reports including Trial balance, budget reports, profit and loss, project report, variance analysis.

BI-ANNUAL & ANNUAL: Budget compilation coordination and loading into Pastel; Ensure bi-annual EMP501 reconciliation is done and submitted; Ensure provisional tax deadlines are met and payments settled; Ensure subscriptions renewal of accounting software; Ensure all documentation is provided to accountants to do the financial year-end including Pastel back-up, updated asset register, provisional IRP5’s, bank statements as of year-end; and Issue IRP 5s at the end of the tax year.

STATUTORY: Complete and submit the Workplace Skills Plan and Annual Training Report with SETA; Complete and submit the EE report annually; Complete and submit Return of Earnings (ROE) report to the Compensation Fund and obtain letter of Good Standing with the Compensation Fund from the Department of Labour; Obtain company tax clearance annually and distribute to clients as per client contracts; and Obtain tax directives if and when required from SARS E-filing.
