SUMMARY:
Senior Android Developer (Sandton)

POSITION INFO:

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to:

vSenior Android Developer must have a competent understanding of:

vThe system development life cycle and can explain the Java developer role in each stage.

vThe defined system development tools, processes and workflows.

vThe distinction between business, functional and non-functional requirements and how to implement them.

vThe importance of delivering high quality source code and how to achieve it.

vThe technologies used and the systems components structure.

vThe domain and business terminologies and link them back to system implementations.

vSenior Android Developer should be able to demonstrate that they can:

vDevelop, test, and maintain the deployed application software with high quality.

vCollaborate with product managers and designers to ensure a successful, high-quality product and great user experience.

vAnalyse, maintain and enhance existing application and troubleshoot issues with efficiency.

vPerform accurate development estimation.

vProduce technical specifications and designs. Participate in new business development through ideation, prototype development, and project estimates.

vResearch new techniques, tools, and best practices and share that knowledge with the team and community.

vMaintain high standards.

vAnalytical and problem solving skills.

vSelf-starter who takes ownership, is accountable, and is able to work under minimum supervision.

vExcellent written and verbal communication skills.

vCan help with quality assurance and provide comments.

Education and Experience:

vRequired:

vMatric

vDiploma or degree in IT would be advantageous

vTechnical Skills or Knowledge:

vFamiliarity with Agile development methodologies

vExperience with software development in a test-driven environment

vExcellent understanding and application of design principles

vFamiliar with UML

vAbility to learn new languages and technologies

vExcellent communication skills and being able to work independently or in a full team

vResourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude

vAttention to detail

vHave worked on at least 1 app published in the App or Play Store

vSoapUI (SOAP) / REST client (JSON)

vAndroid Studio, Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Confluence)

vJ2EE, Android, WebLogic, Apache, UML, XML, JSON, SOAP and REST Web Service Development
