SUMMARY:
Senior Accountant - Johannesburg

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Key roles and responsibilities:

vDetailed understanding of IFRS and IAS standards, including but not limited to: IFRS 15, 16, 9.

vPerforming detailed research on technical accounting matters and providing a detailed writeup thereof.

vTreasury and Cash management.

vManagement of Forex Transactions and accounting thereof.

vFull function General Ledger integrity management including journals.

vManagement of month end close, interfaces and other tasks.

vGeneral Ledger reconciliations, including Bank reconciliations.

vPetty cash and Credit Card management (Head Office and Regions).

vManagement of Fixed Asset Register in compliance with IFRS and Income Tax Act.

vManagement of FACS cashbook and Hyphen relationship.

vFull management of communication files between FACS cashbook and Willow.

vAssisting with the annual and 3 year forecast.

vPreparing and reviewing annual financial statements.

vAssisting with audit requests.

vManaging the tax packs and the full taxation function.

vReporting on Income Statement reviews, critical analyses with explanations of variances.

vAssisting the General Ledger manager with various ad hoc projects.

Qualifications, Experience & Competencies Required:

vRelevant Honours degree, with specialization in accounting and taxation.

vSAICA Articles or similar required.

vMinimum of 2 years’ post Articles experience.

vCompliance with company policies and procedures.

vAbility to implement new or make amendments to policies and procedures.

vIn-depth knowledge of financial principles and processes (IFRS, Tax Regulations and other applicable legislation).

vDetail oriented with excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

vExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

vImpeccable interpersonal, leadership and people skills.

vStrong knowledge of Microsoft Excel – not negotiable and will be tested.

vAbility to work under pressure.

vAbility to identify problems and correct them.

vSense of responsibility.

vPrecision, accuracy and attention to detail.

vDeadline driven.

vSelf-starter and quick learner.

vMust be willing to work additional hours if required.
