Semi-Skilled Electrician

SUMMARY:
Southern Oil Pty Ltd, an established company and market leader in manufacturing Canola oil and related products in the retail, food services, and bulk sectors, has the following exciting career opportunity in Swellendam.

POSITION INFO:

Short Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is the maintenance of all electrical installations and equipment on the plant and the installation of new electrical equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Plant Maintenance
  • Maintain plant equipment, for example, pumps, steam lines, and pneumatic components.
  • Perform plant maintenance during the shutdown period.
  • Research new project equipment and communicate with stores in ordering electrical parts.
• Machine Inspections
  • Do regular inspection on plant equipment according to checklist and a preventive maintenance plan.
• Engineering Procedures
  • Perform tasks according to Health and Safety procedures and Food Safety Procedures.
  • Complete DMS work orders to keep a record of the work.
  • Apply for parts by making use of the requisition procedure.
  • Follow workshop housekeeping rules and implement a 5s strategy.
• Teamwork
  • Give feedback to Senior Engineering Technician on breakdown root cause analyses.
  • Handle breakdowns during responsible standby period.
  • Manage Electrician Assistant according to HR policies and Disciplinary Code of Conduct.

Key Competencies:

Education and Experience

• Experience working with a qualified Electrician
• House wiring and Three Phase Wiring is essential
• Valid Code B driving License
• A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in maintenance
• Experience in installations in a manufacturing environment
• Experience in hazardous electrical installations will be an advantage

Technical Abilities

• Understating of basic pneumatics
• Good knowledge of flowmeters
• Calibration of 4-20mA systems
• Basic understanding of PLC systems
