Role Overview:
The second in charge will deputise for the Unit Manager in his/her absence in order to ensure continuity of service delivery within TICU. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the supervision of employees in TICU - relating to day to day workforce planning and management of staffing, as well as professional and ethical nursing practice and supporting excellence in providing a positive patient experience.
This individual is responsible for assisting the Unit Manager with improving the quality of nursing care by ensuring compliance to practice. The second in charge will ensure adherence to high quality nursing care and service delivery by the multi-disciplinary team. This individual will be accountable for supporting the leadership of the team and ensuring capacity building, mentoring and training of all employees in the TICU. The second in charge buys in and supports the operationalisation of the strategy of the unit manager
Requirements:
- A relevant nursing qualification-Diploma in General Nursing (NQF level 6) or B Cur Degree (NQF Level 7).
- Current registration with the South African Nursing Council as a registered/professional nurse.
- An additional qualification in Critical Care Nursing Science registered with the SANC
- A minimum of 2-3 years managerial experience in the private sector.
- A minimum of 2-3 years work experience in ICU and clinical leadership essential.
- A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a private hospital setting.
- Sound financial knowledge and proficient understanding of the legislative and business climate pertaining to nursing and private healthcare.
