- Position Purpose Statement
Sample Lab Superintendent is responsible for daily operations in the Sample
Lab department and successful completion of overall duties including but not limited to:
• Analysing results and determining quality and financial value of each delivery from suppliers
• Continuous communication to suppliers in terms of product quality and developments through Grower Services Manager
• Management and co-ordination of Sample Lab Assistant.
• Ensure consistent results on each delivery FREC report
• Evaluate new processing technology for potential future use as part of R&D function.
- Off season- Drive Research & Development through testing, processing and sampling, managing projects, new ways.
2. Duties and responsibilities
This position will be responsible for, but not limited, the following:
General
• Continuous monitoring, evaluation and analyses of supplier product and report to the supplier on performance and quality via Grower Liaison Manager.
• Conduct quality audits for 2nd party checks and ensure sample accuracy in terms of FREC report.
• Ensure 3rd party checks are conducted and corrective actions are completed and implemented for every finding.
• Ensure Sample Lab weekly throughput targets, determined by Grower Services Manager, is met.
• Stay current and up to date on any changes and developments that concern product quality. Communicate any developments with suppliers / growers via Grower Liaison Manager.
Off season- Drive Research & Development through testing, processing and sampling, managing projects, new ways.
Sample Lab Department employees
• Manage, coach and develop Sample Lab employees - Up to 18+
• Set department objectives and goals.
Financial
• Duly responsible for Sample Lab department budget with Grower Liaison Manager.
• Responsible for achieving budget and forecasts
Experience and Qualifications:
Matric & Chemical Engineering degree required
HACCP and BRC certifications required
Research and development experience – Projects
People management – 18+ staff
Computer Literate
Mathematical and statistical skills (express data statistically in all units of measure)
2 years’ Experience in food processing environment (preferred)
Passion for FMCG and R&D (Research and development)
Salary: Market related
