Sales Representative

SUMMARY:
Our client, within the manufacturing industry with focus on Filters, Laboratory Equipment and Laboratory environments is looking for a Sales Representative to join their team. This position will be based in Midrand, Gauteng.

POSITION INFO:

The main purpose of this role will be to service customers by selling products that meet the customer’s needs.  Have sufficient knowledge to refer the correct product for the correct customer application.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Service existing accounts to obtain orders and establish new accounts
• Plan and organize daily work schedule to call on potential customers
• Adjust content of sales presentations by studying the type of customer being called on
• Submit orders by referring to price lists and product literature
• Prepare quotations with sufficient backup literature to assist customers on planning
• Check customer orders against the original quote and amend any discrepancies
• Submit orders to the office and follow up to ensure that deliveries have been made or orders are placed for items that are not in stock
• Consistently check stock levels and determine when orders for stock need to be placed on International Suppliers, forecasting the needs over the next 6 months
• Regular reporting to management by submitting activity and results reports (daily, weekly, monthly and annual territory analysis)
• Monitor competitors by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques etc.
• Recommend changes in products, services and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments
• Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management
• Review professional publications, establish personal networks in order of maintaining professional and technical knowledge
• Provide historical records by maintaining records on area and customer sales
• Assist the Sales Manager in planning
• Cold calling to arrange meetings with potential customers to prospect for new business
• Make accurate, rapid cost calculations and provide customers with quotations

Educational Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Microbiology / Biomedical Technology / Biochemistry or equivalent qualification essential

Experience and Skills Required:

• Minimum of 5 years sales experience
• Knowledge of Filters, Laboratory Equipment and Laboratory environments
• Microbiology / Biomedical Technology / Biochemistry or equivalent qualification
• Strong communication and problem solving skills
• Interpersonal skills
• Ability to pay strong attention to details
• Results orientated
• Valid driver’s license and passport
