SUMMARY:
Exciting opportunity for an experienced Sales Rep to join the Pinetown branch of a National concern supplying industrial and automotive consumables to industry. Reporting to the Branch Manager / Sales Manager.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales and Account management; Meeting and exceeding sales and profit targets.
  • Mapping and profiling target markets and customers.
  • Qualify and assess target customers.
  • Develop strategies and plans to obtain business from customers (new and existing).
  • Create and maintain customer data base.
  • Position Company as the supplier of choice.
  • Understanding relevant standards, guidelines, regulations and assist end users with compliance to such.
  • Training end users on use of products.
  • Work with supplier sales and technical reps to develop markets / customers.
  • Pricing and gross margin management in line with Company financial objectives.
  • Negotiating pricing and tenders with customers.
  • Assist with Company inventory management (right stock, right quantities at right time).
  • High level of customer service / satisfaction / ensure follow ups.
  • Communicate market activities, trends, and competitive activities.
  • Manage individual costs and expenses to agreed targets/budgets.
  • Sales administration and general administration.
  • Plan and manage time and resources for effective coverage of territory, communications, and responsibilities.
  • Formulate and work to a customer call plan / call cycle ensuring maximum productivity.
  • Maintain and communicate account and prospect information, maintain company resources and sales support materials (samples / brochures).
  • Exhibit leadership with accounts, prospects, and peers.
  • Accept direction and assume leadership as appropriate.
  • Assert ideas and persuade others to action.
  • Build collaboration amongst team members to address relevant customer/industry issues.
  • Continuously learn and improve skills relative to market, products, applications, selling, administrative elements.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Internal sales support as required (tele sales / walk in enquiries).
  • Pastel (e.g. Invoicing, checking stock, prices, purchase orders and reports).
  • Occasional deliveries, collections and picking of stock.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Marketing/Sales would be advantageous.
  • Sales background with work experience in a similar role.
  • Technical knowledge / experience in industrial/automotive consumables would be an advantage.
  • Own transport and willing to travel to see clients.
  • A commitment to customer service excellence.
  • Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships.
  • Proactive and highly executional.
  • Organized and efficient.
  • Positive, energetic, team player.
