Sales Manager for a pharmaceutical organisation

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Strategic /Planning

  • Prepare and review the annual budget for the Sales Department portfolio with Management and provide guidance on future trends impacting the business
  • Create sales budgets for sales representatives in line with business objectives
  • Build and promote long lasting business relationships with Key Opinions Leaders (KOLs) to drive current and future business for the company
  • Analyse market trends and establish new opportunities for growth
  • Maintain customer base in order to successfully identify potential customers through relevant targeting and segmentation
  • Plan and collate personal sales strategy by enhancing the Return on Time Investment for territories

Sales Operations

  • Analyse and measure key performance indicators including ongoing monitoring of sales vs budget and monthly analysis of market statistics
  • Evaluate customer base, product and individual performance and provide on going feedback to management and sales team
  • Have an understanding of customer buying and decision making processes
  • Manage operating expenses in order to remain within allocated spend for financial year
  • Provide ongoing re-evaluation of the budget in line with market trends and priorities 
  • Coordinate sales activities with marketing, sales management accounting, logistics and technical service
  • Manage all wholesalers (Key account management) 

Sales and Marketing

  • Investigate sources for developing prospective customers 
  • Demonstrate services and products to existing/potential customers and assist them in selecting products that best suit their needs
  • Identify and implement opportunities for product training with customers
  • Keep abreast of product uses, technical services, market trends, competitive activities, promotional and advertising opportunities

People management

  • Support sales representatives with implementation of key strategies and activities for portfolio
  • Manage and motivate a high performance sales team
  • Attend identified congresses in line with Company and Portfolio target audience
  • Support sales representatives with day-to-day sales requirements
  • Identify hiring needs, source and train sales representatives
  • Plan and coordinate training sessions for customers and their staff in line with business requirements as well as organise and/or attend Continued Medical Education (CME) programmes as per business needs

 Administration

  • Document call rate by utilising relevant systems (RepWise) 
  • Record and submit all expense records to ensure that spending is kept within the approved budget
  • Schedule and plan daily and weekly sales and marketing activities by logging them onto the system (RepWise) 
  • Maintain customer/client database

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 year Degree with a concentration in marketing, promotions, advertising sales, or business administration (preferred)

Work Experience

  • Proven work experience as a Regional Sales Manager, Area Manager or similar sales management role
  • Pharmaceutical industry (preferred) or medical industry
