Safety Officer Temp

POSITION INFO:

Key responsibilities will include:

• Ensure a zero Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) is maintained by providing guidance and advice in safety related matters, implementing and maintaining safety programmes
• Maintain ISO 45001 Health and Safety management systems
• Ensure effective application and audits of the ISO 45001 safety system
• Guide and assist risk assessments within the operations and new projects
• Promote continuous improvement with regards to safety controls and systems
• Plan and execute safety audits
• Liaise with Department of Labour, external authorities and other statutory bodies to ensure legal compliance
• Facilitate and advise on incident investigations during and after hours
• Ensure contractor companies remain legally compliant – OHS Act and ISO 45001
• Develop and promote safety awareness for employees and contractors
• Generates applicable monthly reports
• Familiar with OHS Act, construction regulations, rail regulations and interpretation, to render advice
• Performs Safety-related training when required
• Generate safety statistics and play a key role in investigations of incidents
• Support departments fully in any safety related aspect for the benefit of employee safety as per Service Level Agreement (SLA)

The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:

• National Diploma in Safety Management / BTech Safety Management / relevant engineering qualification
• 3 years safety experience
• 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
• Safety related short courses i.e., SAMTRAC / NEBOSH (advantageous)
• OHSAS 18001 training (advantageous)
• Computer literacy: MS Office, SAP knowledge (advantageous)
