SUPPLY CHAIN SUPERINTENDENT MOZAMBIQUE MINING

 

A well established and growing Mining giant urgently seeks a seasoned and experienced Supply Chain Superintendent. Mining background is a MUST!  Candidate will report to the GM.

PURPOSE STATEMENT

To plan, direct, and manage the activities for inventory control, catalog management, procurement, expediting, inbound logistics, external rotable repairs, staff transport, warehouse management and internal deliveries to end users.

Key Management Outputs

1.            Promoting Safety, Health & Environment practices by ensuring:

•             Compliance to relevant legislation

•             The accident/incident frequency is less than the set standard

•             Compliance to the Mine Health, Safety and Environment Management manual

•             The operation can attain highest accreditation ratings

•             Compliance to environmental licensing & permitting requirements

•             Incident forms are followed up on, and completed and investigated

•             Leading by example and proactively setting an example through reinforcing safe work practices and visibility in the workplace.

2.            Manage staff effectiveness through:

•             Establishing agreed upon KPI’s.

•             Managing performance continuously

•             Counseling employees about work-related issues and assist supervisors to correct job-skill deficiencies.

•             Counselling team members regarding behavioural issues

•             Disciplining team members for behavioral non1.               Manage staff effectiveness through:

•             Disciplining team members for behavioral non compliances with verbal & written warnings & initiates formal disciplinary processes

2.            Develop High Performance Teams through:

•             Ensuring problems are resolved within appropriate levels of accountability and responsibility for individuals and teams

•             Encouraging members to be actively involved in finding and implementing solutions

•             Ensuring all staff are competent to deliver the outputs of their jobs within a specified time after being appointed to the position and in line with the performance management system

•             Ensuring continuous and deliberate transfer of competencies to other team members.

•             Perform daily review of SIC (short interval control) reports submitted by supervisors.

•             Conduct weekly one on one meetings with supervisors to assist with prioritisation of tasks and KPIs not achieved in the prior week.

4.            Manage the Purchasing and Logistics budget by:

•             Compiling the departmental budget.

•             Managing expenditure within budget parameters

•             Analysing budget monthly and reporting on variances

•             Taking a pro-active approach through forecasting future expenditure on a monthly basis.

5.            Ensure effective Procurement, Inventory control, Warehousing and Logistics practices through:

•             Representing the company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.

•             Directing and coordinating the activities of staff engaged in procurement, inventory control, warehousing and logistics.

•             Developing and implementing purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.

•             Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials.

•             Conduct weekly meetings with strategic suppliers of critical spares and ensure prompt deliveries are achieved.

•             Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers.

•             Plan, develop, and implement warehouse safety and security programs and activities.

•             Confer with department managers to coordinate warehouse activities

•             Providing supervisors with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes

•             Reviewing monthly reports such as:

             Critical stock reports

             Consignment stock holding compliance

             Purchase order expediting compliance

             Rotables tracking dashboard

             Inbound logistics performance

             Receiving process compliance

             Service level and OTIF performance (own and consignment stock)

             Stock variations

             New stock creations

             Catalog reviewed and updates

and take corrective action as required

•             Preparing monthly reports such as:

o             Monthly Supply Chain operations report

o             Monthly presentation to COO on supply chain performance and progress on action plans.

A) KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

FORMAL EDUCATION     •             National Diploma/ Bachelor Degree in Purchasing and Distribution

             TECHNICAL/

LEGAL CERTIFICATION   •             Member of an accredited Supply Chain Management professional body, i.e  APICS or MCIPS, ISM or a similar internationally recognised procurement qualification is desirable.

             EXPERIENCE       •             5-10 years experience in purchasing and materials management of which at least 5 years should be in a leadership/manager role.

1.            OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

 

•             Experience of managing warehouse operations encompassing, materials management, logistics and inventory optimisation.

•             Experience of implementing cost savings through the use of strategic sourcing and eProcurement across an organisation.

•             Experience in conducting analysis such as spend analysis, electronic tendering and contract management and developing management reports.

•             Experience in leading high value sourcing and provide subject matter expertise on complex purchasing, technical, legal & contractual issues..

•             Analytical and financial understanding of the service cost models and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

•             Experience in stakeholder management, communications, influencing and planning is essential.

•             Experienced in developing management reports and conducting analysis using relevant applications such as SysPro, Microsoft and QlikView.

•             A willingness to self-start and tackle complex business issues; lead high performing teams.

KNOWLEDGE OF: Personnel and Human Resources  Administration and Management    Financial - Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, budgets, the analysis and reporting of financial data.
