SUMMARY:
A reputable FMCG company based in the KZN Midlands has a great opportunity for a Health & Safety Manager! He/She will manage the Company's entire Safety, Health & Environment function, building and grounds maintenance and control of security on the plant!

POSITION INFO:
POSITION : HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER
AREA        : HOWICK, KZN MIDLANDS
SALARY    : MARKET RELATED

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The successful applicant will be responsible for the entire Safety, Health & Environment function, building and grounds maintenance and control of security on the site. He/She needs to ensure the Company’s H&S compliance in terms of the relevant legislation and ensure that the site is maintained at a high standard. 

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Completed Matric/Grade 12
• Completed Diploma/National Diploma/Degree in either Estate Management or Health & Safety. 
• Minimum 3 to 5 years years H&S managerial experience
• Experience within the FMCG industry
• Experience with ISO 45001 would be highly advantageous. 
• Candidates must have a degree of financial literacy to enable creation and adherence to budgets. 
• Occasional weekend work and after hours call out if needed
• Must have Valid license and own transport and live close to Midlands

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure H&S compliance, maintain site, including gardens and buildings and oversee site security. 
• Manage the budget for H&S as well for the  maintenance and upkeep of the facilities.
• Leading and guiding the Facilities team, SHE Reps, contractors, and all H&S team members.
• Development of the SHE Reps to ensure that they are fully equipped to promote H&S in their respective departments.
• Strong inter-departmental interaction in order to develop a culture of H&S in the Company.
• Management of the relationship with the contracted security company to ensure the security of the site.
• Professional management of the Company’s H&S portfolio with the intention of obtaining, and maintaining, ISO 45001 certification. 
• Regular H&S inspections within the facility to ensure conformance to the relevant standards and legislation. This includes all firefighting equipment and systems. 
• H&S training of employees, SHE Reps and Management, where necessary. Hands-on implementation of H&S at the company.
• Handling of all IOD’s, including coordinating medical assistance, as necessary, and full investigation into the incident.
• Monitoring the activities of the security personnel on site and responding to any security incidents.
• Ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the estate through the management of the facilities team.
• Maintenance of the buildings on site, inside and outside, including coordinating of employees and external contractors to complete jobs.
• Monitoring of water supply to the plant and effluent discharge to Municipal line, including liaising with the Municipality and relevant Government entities. 
• Maintenance of storm water drainage on site.
• Project management for building alterations/extensions etc.
