SHE Officer

SUMMARY:
An established Engineering and project delivery company operating in the Renewable and Nuclear energy sectors is looking for a qualified and experienced SHE Officer to join their safety team!

This role is critical in supporting a strong culture of safety, compliance, and quality, ensuring adherence to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHS Act) and all relevant regulations on high-risk infrastructure projects.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements:

• Certificate or Diploma in Safety Management.
• SAMTRAC or NEBOSH certification, SACPCMP Registration (mandatory).
• SHEQ System Auditing Certification (e.g. ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 45001).
• Knowledge of Construction Regulations and safety in engineering environments.
• Certifications in Incident Management, Risk Management, First Aid, etc.
• 3–5+ years’ experience in a similar SHE Officer role.
• Background in large civil engineering or energy infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience in incident investigation, reporting, and audit processes.
• Familiarity with Eskom and renewables sector SHE compliance standards.
• Deep knowledge of the OHS Act, SHEQ systems, and legal safety standards.
• Strong understanding of construction-related safety regulations.
• Awareness of environmental impact assessment and management.
• Ensure full compliance with the OHS Act, construction regulations, and client-specific requirements.
• Maintain up-to-date and organised health, safety, and environmental (HSE) documentation.
• Generate and manage impacts and aspects registers.
• File and retrieve documentation for audit and inspection readiness.
• Monitor site activities for compliance with approved SHE plans.
• Compile weekly safety reports (outage and non-outage periods).
• Conduct and document safety audits, inspections, and site visits.
• Report and evaluate subcontractor compliance.
• Administer and oversee incident reporting, investigations, and NCR systems.
• Track and ensure closure of corrective and preventative actions.
• Handle statutory registers and legal compliance documents.
• Propose action plans for issues raised by clients or authorities.
• Perform internal audits and system checks on SHE files, registers, and procedures.
• Participate in client and external audits.
• Continuously improve SHE systems and recommend updates to documentation.
