POSITION INFO:
Main Purpose:
The TA Safety Manager or Senior Safety Officer is responsible for leading large-scale complex turnaround events from the stages of planning, maintenance execution and the post turnaround SHEQ review. This is carried out in accordance with the Best Practice TA SHE processes with preparations normally commencing months before the major turnaround execution timing.
Years of Work & Supervisory Experience:
- 7+ years’ experience working in Refining Maintenance and Turnarounds
- Have at least 3 years’ experience in a senior SHE position.
- Have a thorough understanding of the relevant OHS act and an awareness and appreciation for health, safety, and environmental issues.
- Has the ability to lead project teams in a manufacturing setting and influence stakeholders to achieve improved SHE performance.
- Have good communication skills enabling him/her to liaise effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization as well as with contractors.
- Be able to work as part of a team as well to build and sustain teams.
- Have good problem solving and decision-making skills and be able to operate effectively under pressure.
- Demonstrate initiative enabling to develop and manage more efficient ways of achieving set objectives.
Key Objectives / Accountabilities:- Develop and implement TA SHE Plan
- Conducts Contractor Health Environment and Safety Management (CHESM)reviews on Contractor during tender phase and execution phase.
- Review contractor SHE files and approve.
- Interface with Engineering, Operators, Maintenance, Construction Contractors, and Management to complete event Incident and Injury free, on time and on budget.
- Ensure that incidents are investigated, and learnings shared with different contractors.
- Plan and implement safety inspections and audits.
- Familiarize herself/himself with approved worklist items.
- Identify SHEQ needs for worklist items.
- Identify high risk areas requiring intervention.
- Coordinate SHEQ engagements. e.g., Hazard ID and Confined space entry packs and track progress
- Support development of Resource Plan, focus on safety personnel.
- Coordinate logistical SHEQ needs during execution.
- Support Employer SHEQ team with SHEQ campaigns leading up to and during event.
- Ensure cooperation between all contractor SHE Professionals by chairing daily SHE meetings.
- Coordinate demob of established SHEQ equipment post event.
