CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

To provide core IT support and technical services to the Faculty of Health Sciences’ new Medical School at Missionvale

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• To manage and supervise the Health Sciences IT team of technicians for the Medical Program of the Faculty of Health Sciences
• To manage and coordinate all IT functions for the Faculty of Health’s medical program at the Missionvale Campus and where required, at the Faculty of Health Sciences on Ocean Sciences Campus in Summerstrand
• To provide comprehensive support for IT Infrastructure and sophisticated clinical software, programs and systems requirements for the offices, laboratories and lecture rooms on the Missionvale Campus for the Medical School
• To manage and maintain accurate records of computer equipment, software licences, stock, service agreements and warranties on electronic equipment and programs within the Medical Program
• Provide IT Technical Support staff and students in the Medical program in accordance with standard Service Level Agreements
• Ensure that the latest standardised software is installed on all computers in terms of the University’s ICT policy at both the Missionvale and Ocean Sciences Campuses
• Train the IT Support Technicians in the required software and hardware and ensure that they comply with the University’s ICT policies and procedures

• Extensive ICT systems experience (including site infrastructure planning, integration and development)

• Ability to work with diverse and cross-functional teams in an environment with sophisticated clinical, technical software and equipment in a Medical Program setting and the willingness to undergo training in high-level clinical software and programs
• Ability to be innovative and responsive in supporting a pressurised work environment
• Sound administrative, managerial and financial skills and the ability to perform these to standard
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to innovatively use ICT to enable learning and teaching, research and engagement processes of the Faculty of health Sciences as well as the Medical Program

REQUIREMENTS

Matric + 3-year degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science or Information Systems

A minimum of five years in a similar role

Valid Driver’s Licence
