rROC Operator – Fleet Management System – Control Room Operator with mining experience
Our client an international full-service, systems integrator dedicated to operations technology for the mining industry in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America, based in Fourways, Johannesburg is looking for a Control Room Operator. Due to exciting developments and dynamic growth, they have opportunities for four experienced operators to support the 24/7 operation of real-time mine management systems.

Please note: Security control room experience is not suitable.
GENERAL PURPOSE
- Monitor mine operations in real-time
- Ensure data integrity of all FMS data
- Trouble-shoot equipment performance and efficiency issues
- Direct site personnel on solutions to optimise outcomes
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Tertiary qualification (Mining Engineering) preferred
- Pit Supervisor / Foreman experience
- Experience with Modular Mining’s Dispatch System
- Experience with other Fleet Management Systems
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Two years’ experience as a mine dispatcher or shift supervisor
- Two years’ experience of real-time systems, preferably Modular Mining’s Dispatch System
- Understanding of open pit operations and maintenance requirements
- Advanced computer application skills
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure road network is up to date and accurate within the FMS in order that best paths can be calculated between any two locations on the mine i.e. Digger to crusher, digger to digger, digger to dump.
- Ensures relevant information is accurate for the system to properly calculate truck requirements to meet and maximise productivity.
- Validate FMS data, develop and execute processes to ensure data integrity of FMS data
- Liaise with mine operation to ensure that the mining plan is effectively and safely achieved.
- Edit all information captured to ensure good database integrity and prepare end of shift report.
- Operational Excellence
- Monitor and implement standards to achieve the optimum Overall Equipment Efficiency (including, availability, utilisation, use of availability and performance) of shovels and trucks.
- Suggest best mining practices to improve production and safety
- Evaluate transactions and exceptions events from mining equipment in real-time
- Advise rROC leadership team (and customer mine personnel) on:
- Taking machines out of operations ahead of maintenance schedules
- Provide sites with alternative allocations for equipment
- Inform mine when production targets are at risk
- Trouble-shoot equipment problems using real-time data
- Communicate with shift supervisors and on-shift maintenance personnel on real-time mine management
- Advise on new configurations and changes to configurations of the relevant real-time systems
- Customer support and liaison with system provider to optimise real-time system in use at the mine
