SUMMARY:
Nursery Retail Specialist required to join Retailer based in Ballito. Required to upgrade & refresh the nursery & so as to get it on trend & create ongoing interest, thus increasing margin & profits,

POSITION INFO:

Job purpose

Creating a “must visit” nursery
Following trends & continually refreshing our range
Travelling to suppliers & nurseries, throughout SA, to source
stock/suppliers
Continually doing interesting displays that create interest & sell product
Train staff to added value to our range by selling pots & plants, painting
these to requirments & adding value wherever possible
Running courses to educate customers & staff on various projects.
To coach, train & motivate staff on an ongoing basis.
To assist manager/s cultivate a pleasant & happy working environment

Responsibilities

Team Leadership:

To motivate & coach nursery staff to drive maximum performance
To train nursery staff to chase up every lead & offer added value via existing & new lines so as to increase Rand margin.

Commercial:

To understand the changing requirements of the urban market & glean information from sales reps, social media, magazines, internet, shows etc. & pass this info to relevant persons.
To work closely with manager & coach all staff to partake in all promotions & value adds.
To assist marketing continually update our web page & in store media screens
To establish & maintain fresh interesting displays in the nursery & shop, so as to drive sales.

Disciplines:

Visit shows & suppliers as required, so as to ensure the nursery remains on trend.
Strive to motivate staff to give service beyond expectation

Stock management:

To work closely with manager & continuously update range whilst minimising out of stocks & dead stocks.
To assist sales staff grow special orders & buy-outs & ensure they fully competent to do these.

Optimization:

To train staff to use WDWS & LSOHQ slips on a daily basis & manage same
To identify issues/bottle-necks experienced by the sales staff, and bring these to attention of the manager.
To remove stumbling blocks from the sale staffs day, by analysing & carrying out subtle incremental ongoing improvements, so that they can function optimally.

Requirements

Matric
English, Zulu an advantage
Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
Must live within 20 minutes of Ballito
Computer literate - Word/Outlook/Excel (basics)

Experience & Competencies

5 years’ experience in nursery/landscaping/decor fields
Basic understanding of retail
Passion for plants, gardening & décor
A keen eye & understanding of what products/ranges will sell
Ability to coach nursery staff to sell “pots & plant” & added value products.
Ability to travel to suppliers & nurserys around SA to update knowledge & refresh range
