Our client, a company in the agricultural industry situated in Stellenbosch, is looking for a Research and Registration Coordinator to join their team.
Position Overview:
Primarily responsible for developing scientific protocol, organizing / managing, and conducting scientific trials, preparing the scientific report for the registration, quarantine and customer approval of our client’s fumigant, agricultural and chemical products globally.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with regulatory and field team and conduct scientific studies for registration, quarantine approval and customer acceptance.
The person must have strong knowledge and experience of scientific research regulatory and legislative environment of the local and overseas registration.
Primary Objectives:
- Understand the customer problem and provide solution based on scientific research. Plan and coordinates the initiation of scientific research study protocol, data collection, statistical analysis, report suitable for registration authority, biosecurity approval and customer approval. Working with research organizations, funding agencies, and regulating bodies and submitting research grants application to receive funding. Working closely with regulatory team, develop a scientific protocol, organizing the study, completing the reports for product registration and label extension
- Managing research budgets. Adhering to research regulatory standards, procedures, and policy.
- Adhering to ethical standards
- Maintaining detailed records of studies as per local registration / quarantine guidelines.
- Liaising with laboratories regarding findings
- Ensuring that the necessary supplies and equipment for a study are in stock and in working order.
- Working closely with a multicultural team
- Independently keeping abreast of scientific publication related to fumigation.
- Develop marketing material and strategy.
Required Qualifications:
- Postgraduate qualifications in Science, preferably in Agricultural Science or Medical Science (toxicology or ecotoxicology) or Chemistry.
- Ability to solve problems, show judgement, pay attention to fine details and make decisions based on sound science and risk analysis.
- Advanced level of English in writing, comprehension, and speaking is a prerequisite.
- All verbal and written communication inter-team must be conducted in English.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Must have a Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture.
- Minimum 3+ years’ regulatory experience will be required.
- Good knowledge of and hands-on experience in regulatory requirements in the crop protection industry are essential
- Good knowledge of on PPP legislation and PPP authorization in South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana and at EU level.
- Knowledge of the technical disciplines related to PPP registration, toxicology, product residues, environment fate and ecotoxicology at a general level is important.
- Must have a general understanding of agriculture business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing the registration activities for countries in the business area, as defined by the Regulatory Lead.
- Preparing registration submissions, answering requests from authorities, covering regulatory aspects of product labelling and formulation / source changes, and keeping the internal registration databases up to date.
- Planning, achieving, maintaining, and defending approvals / registrations (for new registration-NPIs, reregistration, label extensions and formulation changes) of the product portfolio in South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana to the appropriate approval authority.
- Aiming to meet business objectives within agreed timelines and in compliance with local statutory requirements.
- Providing regulatory expertise and foresight to the business.
- Keeping regulatory and business informed on regulatory changes and emerging issues which require proactive management.
- Developing and implementing, with the Regulatory Lead, a robust freedom to operate (FtO) approach across countries in the business area, aligned to global strategy, including stewardship and safe use.
- Providing to the Regulatory Lead annual plans, timelines, and budget needs for all registration activities in-line with portfolio strategy/priorities.
- Tracking, reviewing, and reporting registration progress against targets.
- Establishing a network with regulatory authorities, representing company interests.
- Maintaining close contact to local partners to grow and maintain expertise of national registration processes and legislations.
- Proactively managing product related issues.
- Supporting supply chain on regulatory matters (shelf-life extensions, country of origin issues, review of inspection certificates, etc.).
- Assuming accountability for regulatory compliance within the allocated countries.
- Supporting the Regulatory Lead in engagement and participation in
Area: Stellenbosch.
Starting date: As soon as possible.
Salary package is negotiable depending on experience.
