Research Assistants x 2 (6 Months Contract) Epidemiology and Biostatistics

Main purpose of the job:

• To undertake systematic review and research writing project from start to finish

Location:

• School of Public Health, 25 St Andrews’ Road
• Parktown, Johannesburg

Key performance areas:

• Planning and design of a literature review project at the proposal writing stage
• Undertake literature review project from start to finish (establishing a search strategy, screening of articles, hand-searching, data extraction, data analysis, and report writing)
• To take part in other research and data analyses as required by the project
• Attend training and development sessions such as the academic seminars in the school, journal club, stakeholders research meetings, and writing workshops in the school

Required minimum education and training:

• At least completed/enrolled in a postgraduate program preferably Masters/PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, or Demography

Required minimum work experience:

• 1-year of experience with research writing especially systematic reviews

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:

• Experience in health research, research data analyses, and writing skills
• Evidence of publication writing preferably systematic review is essential
• A candidate with a high work ethic, being team-oriented, self-driven, and hands-on
• The candidate should be able to work within strict deadlines
• Good communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
