JOB DESCRIPTION:

Main purpose of the job:

  • To coordinate data capturing for multiple health systems and surgical care studies

Location:

  • Nelspruit - Mpumalanga

Key performance areas:

Coordinate study activities

  • Developing and implementing a data capturing plan together with the project manager and PI
  • Actively engage with project stakeholders and attend meetings where and when required
  • Ensure systems and processes are being followed to ensure efficient and effective study execution
  • Interpreting data

Data Handling

  • Basics skills on Microsoft Office suite, laptop, and cellphone
  • Proficiency in or willingness to acquire appropriate skills needed to utilize the online data collection instrument REDCap

Maintaining clinical records and quality assurance

  • Review Case Report Forms (CPFs)
  • Proactively resolve missing data queries with staff and study team

Staff Interaction

  • Ability to interact professionally with the permanent clinical staff at study sites
  • Ability to coordinate data retrieval and collection with study site staff

Required minimum education and training:

  • Bachelor of Clinical Medical Practice (BCMP)
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree

Required minimum work experience:

  • Minimum of 0-1 year working experience

Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities:

  • Good clinical practice (GCP) certificate required
  • Basic research ethics certificate required (TRREE module 1 acceptable)
  • Competent and comfortable using Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Willingness to attend basic REDCap training course
  • Ability to produce reports
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, diplomacy, and professionalism at all times
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, good time-management skills, and adherence to deadlines
  • Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
