Research Analyst

SUMMARY:
Research Analyst - 12 months Contract

POSITION INFO:

Job Purpose

To provide technical, analytic, and coordinative support of research activities and reporting, including data collection, analysis, and presentation

Key Performance Areas

Data collection, analysis and reporting

• Support the completion of research-oriented tasks assigned to the department by planning, preparing, and producing a variety of regular and ad hoc reports and publications to meet external regulations and internal needs.
• Maintain research-related databases as require
• Determine information needs and desired analyses by interviewing those requesting data collection and reporting
• Perform related duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the department
• Extract, collect and aggregate data across databases, information sources, survey responses, and other data sources; Conduct data standardization processes; proactively identifies and proposes alternatives to improve the stability, performance, and accuracy of the data
• Support the dissemination of information by compiling, analysing, and publishing an extensive range of data

Maintenance of Data validation and integrity

• Ensure data quality; cleans and checks existing data for consistency and accuracy
• Perform data queries and formatting of data tables

Governance and Compliance

• Develop procedures to enhance the company’s ability to access and analyse information
• Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds
• Conduct background policy research and analysis to support existing projects as well as proposals for new bodies of work; synthesizes research findings to identify and recommend best practices
• Assist in efforts to improve internal information tracking systems and enhance the policy department’s collaborations and communications on integrated activities with other members of the staff
• Gather and package confidential content for the in-person bi-annual meeting; post meeting materials on the secure SharePoint site

Department Projects and Initiatives Support

• Conduct background research and data support for team initiatives
• Provide administrative support to team members when needed
• Track project timeline, deliverables, and internal/external partners across multiple projects and teams, proactively communicating progress and potential challenges to managers and project teams

Stakeholder Management & Liaison

• Collaborate with teams to design and help integrate data into company-approved format
• Communicate through the relevant platforms about relevant data and policy issues pertinent to the department
• Support and prepare senior staff for regular internal and external meetings and completion of deliverables; draft talking points and presentations for external audiences

Personal and Professional Development

• Contribute professional expertise and experience concerning policies, higher education policy, and other policy areas most relevant to research universities
• Participate in professional organizations, conferences, and workshops to keep informed of current ideas, research, and practices related to the field
• Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses required by the department

Minimum Requirements

• A relevant Postgraduate qualification and 3 years’ proven experience of working with quantitative and qualitative data and analysis in administration; and fundraising
• Strong understanding of databases, analytical tools, and concepts
• Strong experience with Excel including the ability to perform data extraction
• Sound knowledge of, insight into, and vision of the Higher Education sector
• Intermediate level experience preparing data sets and data analysis and ability to read and interpret complex materials and perform data cleaning
• Significant fundraising portfolio / experience and skills
• Proven resources management skills with excellent communication and conflict management skills
• The ability to function under pressure and be responsive
• Unquestionable professional integrity, stature and abilities
