Summary: Our external client in the Medical Industry is looking for Registered Nurses to be based at a Hospital close to the Krugersdorp area. The successful candidate will be responsible for direct and/or indirect nursing care of a patient or group of patients. The Registered nurses will be responsible for assessing, planning, executing and supervising the implementation of care to meet patient needs. The

 

 

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient care and counseling
  • Performs rostered weekend duties / emergency relief on call duties and associated tasks
  • Provides safe, clean and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors
  • Utilizes supplies and equipment in an economical manner
  • Co-operates and collaborates with other hospital departments to provide quality patient care
  • Liaises with ward manager on matters relating to patient care
  • Keeps accurate records at all times
  • Required to serve on relevant committees within the department
  • Supervises and evaluates quality of patient care through patient rounds
  • Communicates with patient and family regarding patient care and informs Unit Manager of patient care problems
  • Assists with the coaching of junior staff within the Unit

 

Experience

  • Experience in the relevant field of nursing advantageous.
  • A post graduate qualification within the specified discipline would be advantageous e.g. (Orthopaedic trained, PALS, Advanced midwifery, ATLS)
  • Flexible in working hours / shift work.
  • The ability to communicate well at all levels
  • The ability to work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions
  • The ability to develop using collaborative relationships to help accomplish work goals
  • The ability to actively participate as a member of a team to achieve goals

Administration

  • Manage acuity and skill mix to ensure appropriate level of care
  • Compliance with documentation policy
  • Ongoing audit of health records to ensure compliance
  • Ensures all stock is well controlled and managed, charged and credited appropriately

 

Risk Management

  • Maintains a therapeutic, clean and safe environment that is free from medico-legal hazards
  • Adheres to the Resuscitation and Reanimation policy
  • Adheres to medical waste management principles and all other waste management principles
  • Maintains a safe working environment in accordance with the Machinery and Occupational Safety Act
  • Reports and acts upon potential/actual risks identified
  • Responsible for ensuring correct use, cleaning and storage of equipment
  • Reports equipment needing repair or replacement
  • Maintain professional conduct and standards at all times in accordance with hospital policies and procedures
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times

 

Education

  • Diploma in Nursing Science
  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council as a registered nurse
  • Matric
