Reconciliation Trustee Service Consultant

SUMMARY:
A major South African bank is seeking a skilled Reconciliation Consultant to join its Cape Town-based investment operations team on a 6-month contract. This role is focused on the reconciliation of financial instruments including bonds, equities, money market instruments, and other investment-related accounts, supporting the integrity and accuracy of post-trade operations.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of portfolios holding equities, bonds, and money market instruments.
• Investigate and resolve breaks and discrepancies between internal systems, custodians, and external counterparties.
• Assist in maintaining data integrity across settlement and accounting systems.
• Collaborate with middle office, trade support, fund accounting, and custodians to resolve complex queries.
• Support corporate actions, income events, and cash flow reconciliations.
• Assist in the automation or streamlining of reconciliation processes where possible.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and contribute to audit readiness.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Financial Accounting, Investments, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in investment operations, fund administration, or reconciliation in a banking or asset management environment.
• Solid understanding of financial instruments (bonds, equities, derivatives, and money markets).
• Strong reconciliation and investigation skills, with attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with investment platforms (e.g. Bloomberg, SWIFT, Calypso, HiPortfolio, or similar).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
