Pick-Nik Marketing (Pty) Ltd manufactures, markets and sells tissue and hygiene products through Retail and Business to Business channels in South Africa and neighboring countries. Its Head Office and operational factories are in Gauteng, Kempton Park.
We are seeking a Raw Materials Warehouse Controller to manage the receipt, storage, and issuance of raw materials critical to production. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring the timely supply of materials to the production line, and upholding safety and quality standards. This role requires a strong focus on operational efficiency, with the goal of minimizing production downtime through effective material handling and precise documentation.
KEY PERFOMANCE AREA:
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming raw materials (e.g. Wadding, chemicals, packaging, ink).
- Ensure proper storage conditions and segregation of materials based on type and safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP/WMS systems.
- Issue raw materials to production based on daily requirements and production schedules.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels and alert procurement of low inventory thresholds.
- Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and environmental regulations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and access to stock records.
- Collaborate with procurement, production, and quality teams to ensure smooth material flow.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
The incumbent will be instrumental in achieving:
Inventory Accuracy: Maintain a minimum of 95% accuracy in inventory through regular audits and cycle counts.
- Timely Material Issuance: Ensure all raw materials are issued on time in alignment with production schedules.
- FIFO Compliance: Strictly adhere to the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory management method.
- Receiving Efficiency: Process all incoming materials including system updates and proper storage within 2 hours of receipt.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a record of zero lost-time injuries and ensure full compliance with all safety regulations and audit requirements.
- Team Engagement: Minimize staff turnover by fostering strong morale and motivation. Ensure all team members receive adequate training, while actively monitoring attendance, performance, and development needs.
- Quality Control: Limit material losses or damage due to handling or storage to below 1%.
- Documentation & Reporting: Guarantee 100% timely and accurate completion of all inventory documentation and reporting requirements.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications & Experience
- Grade 12 or equivalent; Certificate/Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in warehouse operations, preferably in manufacturing or FMCG
- Familiarity with raw material handling and storage requirements.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Syspro) and warehouse management software.
- Understanding of safety and environmental regulations related to material storage.
