Racking Store Controller

SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Racking Store Controller with a leading automotive client based in Uitenhage/Kariega.

POSITION INFO:
Duties:

· Monitoring and controlling of the racking store using primarily the OPTIMO/RACS programs.
· Ensuring that the optimal model mix is supplied to the Assembly line (Pearl Chain Management).
· Maintaining the accuracy of racking store content.
· Highlighting potential “missing pearls” to the “WIP Controller” so he/she can take the necessary actions to ensure the unit is built in sequence.
· Placing of units on hold or releasing them timeously.
· Communicating with Production, Logistics, Quality, IS, JIT suppliers and other departments regarding issues affecting the racking store, model mix, Old units or other FIS related systems and modules.
· Compiling various reports using the different FIS related systems and modules.
· Supplying information relevant to vehicle specifications to various stakeholders.
· Monitoring the FIS-JIT system and ensuring the checkpoint movements are broadcasted to the Suppliers.
· Affecting the necessary FIS inputs in order to ensure the database is always current and up to date.
· Assisting IS with the introduction of new modules / effecting changes to the system timeously.
· Performing other related / ad hoc assignments as requested by management.
· Making use of the GAF systems to perform manual order swops to improve model mix, accelerate old units or fix problem units.
· Liaising with external and internal suppliers regarding part shortages and units availability.

Requirements:

· National Diploma/Diploma in Production/Operations Management/Logistics/Purchasing/IE/IT
· 3-5 years’ experience in Logistics with minimum of 3 years working experience in a Production environment
· Have a minimum of 2 – 3 years’ experience in a systems controlled environment
· Good knowledge of production flow and processes
· Good knowledge of plant layout
