The Research Nurse will be responsible for day-to-day nursing functions within a research-related environment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Nursing Degree or Diploma and Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse
- At least 2 years nursing experience
- NIMAART trained
- Experience with implanon insertion and removal
- Knowledge of study protocol / regulations
- Knowledge of HIV, and Sexually transmitted infections
- Excellent Computer literacy (Ms Office)
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Language proficiency in English and IsiXhosa
- Ability to work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions
- Ability to work harmoniously with youth of diverse backgrounds and sexual orientation.

Advantageous:
- At least one-year experience in a research environment
- Training in First AID handling
- GCP (Good Clinical Practice) certification
- HSP (Human Subjects Protection) certification
- Previous work experience in HIV research and sexual health or with adolescents
- Working knowledge of an adolescent friendly clinical environment
Responsibilities:
- Providing a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants regardless of age, race, gender or HIV status
- Maintaining strict participant confidentiality
- Providing pre- and post-test counselling, as well as risk reduction counselling, for clients
- HIV testing
- Pregnancy testing
- Obtaining blood and urine samples, labelling and request relevant test
- PrEP Initiation
- Implant insertion and removal
- Performing other participant care procedures as required
- Entering data on electronic device.
- Communicating with clinics and other NGOs
- Assist with quality Control (QC) checks
