ROLE SUMMARY

The above position is available based in the Theatre Department. The ideal applicants should satisfy the criteria and scope of a Registered Nurse.

KEY WORK OUTPUT AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

ï‚· Patient care and counselling

ï‚· Performs rostered weekend duties / emergency relief on call duties and associated tasks

ï‚· Provides safe, clean and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors

ï‚· Utilizes supplies and equipment in an economical manner

ï‚· Co-operates and collaborates with other hospital departments to provide quality patient care

ï‚· Liaises with ward manager on matters relating to patient care

ï‚· Keeps accurate records at all times

ï‚· Required to serve on relevant committees within the department

ï‚· Supervises and evaluates quality of patient care through patient rounds

ï‚· Communicates with patient and family regarding patient care and informs Unit Manager of patient care problems

ï‚· Assists with the coaching of junior staff within the Unit

ï‚· To take responsibility of Theatre and cases on a daily basis where you are allocated

SKILLS PROFILE EDUCATION

ï‚· Must be a Registered Nurse, registered with the South African Nursing Council.

ï‚· Must be in possession of a Diploma in Operating Room Technique.

ï‚· Strong personality

WORK EXPERIENCE

Previous experience in Theatre as a Scrub Sister in a multi discipline environment especially vascular.

ï‚· Flexible in working hours

ï‚· Must be able to do calls

ï‚· Have at least 5 years private hospital experience in Theatre as a Scrub Nurse

ï‚· The ability to communicate well at all levels

ï‚· The ability to work well under pressure and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions

ï‚· The ability to develop using collaborative relationships to help accomplish work goals

ï‚· The ability to actively participate as a member of a team to achieve goals

ï‚· The ability to identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities in order to take appropriate action and / or to resolve problems

ï‚· The ability to plan and organise work for self and others to ensure efficient completion

ï‚· The ability to produce work of a high-quality standard by accurately checking processes and tasks
