POSITION INFO:

Job Description

 

You will be responsible for the development and execution of R&D projects and activity within the R&D framework and portfolio; as well as broadly improve existing treatment plant system performance. 

Your role will:

 

  • Interpret strategy, requirements or opportunities, and formulate appropriate R&D activity response.
  • Manage and co-ordinate R&D project activity per assignment area or interpreted strategy.
  • Understand, analyze and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of existing treatment plants.
  • Conceptualize, evaluate and develop new supporting systems for treatment plants.
  • Disseminate technology/know-how (tech-transfer) through reports, presentations, and discussion.
  • Support the operational readiness of new systems.

 

Qualifications

Formal qualifications:

  • Relevant Degree/ B Tech or Equivalent in Engineering (Chemical/Metallurgy)
  • Registered Professional Engineer would be advantageous.

 

Additional requirements:

  • General computer literacy in the MS Suite is essential.
  • Medically fit to go to sea, and suitable to obtain Namibian temporary work visa and restricted area permit (RAP).
  • Computer software coding knowledge such as Matlab (advantageous).

 

Role-specific knowledge:

  • 8 -10 years post qualification engineering experience (eg: analysis, detailed design, simulation, project design) coupled with proven R&D environment experience at a system level.
  • Expert use of MS Excel for simulation and modelling.
  • Design or development experience of mobile mechanized and automated treatment plant equipment (advantageous).
  • Data analytics experience in an engineering, technical or scientific context (advantageous).
  • Proven record of accomplishment of project management practice and skills on small to medium sized projects is required (greater than R1m but less than R10m).
