Quality Specialist – NR Trade Non-Energy

• MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To implement, maintain and to continuously evaluate and improve the Quality Management System in the Natural Resources Mineral commodities, in accordance with instructions received from Manager of Non Energy Minerals and Location Manager.

• RESPONISIBILITIES
  • Implement, maintain, control and evaluate the Quality Management System to be ready for external assessment at any time.
  • Control and assist Line Management with the management of the ISO 17025 Quality Management System and audit readiness.
  • Plan and conduct scheduled inspections and assist with internal audits to ensure compliance with the ISO 17025 QMS schedules.
  • Register IR’s. Guide and assist with the opening of IR’s, the investigation thereof, conducting root cause analysis and closing out of IR’s. Maintain IR file.
  • Assist with corrective and remedial actions and complaints.
  • Ensure implementation of corrective and remedial actions and compliance.
  • Evaluate improvement systems and assist with trend analysis.
  • Monitor and action all activities with regards to Proficiency Testing Schemes.
  • Co-ordinate and evaluate the Proficiency Testing Schemes.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SS Quality Management System.
  • Assist with scheduling and conducting of monthly Quality meetings.
  • Daily/Monthly checks to be done on the QC’s- QC charts, verifications, quality checks, calibrations and efficiencies.
  • Tailor procedures and processes for reliability and maintainability- manage the doc change process as per QMS.
  • Assist Line Management with management reviews.
  • Assume accountability in ensuring that all remedial actions/complaints/ IR findings are closed out within agreed timeframes.
  • Assist with training and training matrixes to be kept up to date and remind Line Management when training is due.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.
  • Create quality awareness.
  • Assist in continuously upgrading the quality of services offered, in support of Customer services policy and minimises client complaints and claims.
  • Participate and form part of Operational Integrity projects and campaigns.
  • Comply and conform to the QHSE policy of the company.
  • Apply Check status process and use the stop work Authority wherever the control of risks is not clearly established and understood.

• SPECIFIC AUTHORITIES
  • Ensure compliance with all requirements of the inspection order.
  • Ensure efficiency and quality.
  • Report any deviation.
  • Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or entry to hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection, and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
  • Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
  • Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when non-conformity is identified.

QUALIFICATION

• Education
  • National diploma/Degree [Minimum] in Quality Management and /or Chemical Engineering and /or proven years of laboratory, Knowledge, Skills and experience.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English (Read, Speak, Write).
  • Computer Literacy in word and excel.
  • Working Knowledge of ISO 17025.
