SGS South Africa is seeking to fulfil a key role in the SGS Matrolab Eastern Cape Civil Engineering Laboratories. The role includes but are not limited to implement, maintain and further develop a Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management system that integrates all MAT/MAC site and commercial laboratories as per the industry requirements. Plan and achieve objectives, budgetary targets. Build the assigned safety staff based in various locations and infuse team spirit to achieve the objectives collectively.

A successful career in delivering performance against agreed strategic objectives and ultimately ensuring that all quality and testing methods are observed, and any deviation is reported without delay.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Regional and Business Manager, you in the role, are expected to:

• To ensure that company and group policies are implemented in the business, working and objectives are achieved. 
• Streamline and optimize the existing HSE and quality systems and integrate branches that are not included. 
• Ensure that the company''s Quality management Programme is implemented and maintained. 
• Quality (Client complaints, data, personnel performance, turnaround, equipment). 
• Client Satisfaction (meeting external and internal customer expectations from a service, quality and turnaround perspective). 
• Actively participate /adopt/follow-up of Quality Improvement Projects/Programmes. 
• Assess need, organise and perform Internal Audits within the Industrial operations and quality systems.  
• Ensure compliance with company/Group Safety Policy and local legislation concerning health and safety. 
• Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager. 
• Fully experienced with relevant ISO requirements.  
• Fully experienced with establishing a quality management system this to include issuance of procedures, work instructions, quality manuals. 
• Promote the image, capability and integrity of the company to the clients. 
• Support for any claim handling that may arise from clients or out of internal complaints, audit results, etc. 
• Operate to the highest standards of ethics, in accordance with the SGS Statement of Integrity Lead, coach and develop a business oriented team. 
• Key Result Areas 
• Establish, implement and maintain SHEQ management system by including Sites, Commercial Laboratories and admin offices. 
• Sustain existing accreditations and quality systems 
• Supervise and Reduce claims and complaints (external & internal) 
• Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system. 
• Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager. 
• Ensure full compliance with the Company''s Code of Integrity & Code of Conduct.
• At all times, adopt a safe behavior by exercising due regard for the health and safety of yourself, colleagues and clients, in line with the Company''s policies and procedures.

Qualification and Experience

• Education : B degree or diploma in science 
• Experience :
  • 2 Years quality management system experience (national and international codes of best practices) 
  • 6 Years work experience in a Quality testing or production environment 
  • 5 Years Safety Management system experience 
  • Advance Microsoft software experience 
  • Document and report writing experience 
  • Statistical knowledge will be an advantage 
  • Environmental experience will be an advantage 
  • Competencies :

  • Must be Physically able to perform all duties.
  • Relevant Experience in a SANAS accredited lab - advantageious
