Qualified Turner Machinist

SUMMARY:
A very busy engineering company based in the western suburbs of Durban is seeking a Turning Machinist, that can work well under pressure and unsupervised.

POSITION INFO:
Position: Qualified Turner Machinist
Industry: Engineering         
Location: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal
Salary: R60 – R80 per hour (depending on experience, plus overtime)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 senior certificate (Non Negotiable) 
• Clean criminal record (Non Negotiable)
• Clear ITC record (No bad debt / Non Negotiable)
• Own Transport is Essential
• Must have own Vernier 
• Must be willing and able to work overtime without notice 

EXPERIENCE: 

• We are seeking a candidate to join a very busy breakdown company. 
• The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a qualified Turner Machinist.
• The individual we are looking to employ MUST meet the minimum requirements and under no circumstances will exceptions be made.

The candidate is required to: 

• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometres and Vernier Calliper’s.
• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
• Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
• Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
• Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
